Thanks for posting the article. My mum bought the Daily Mail today and it wasn't in there. However, having clicked on the link, I see it's in the Live Night and Day section, which is in the Mail on Sunday. It's likely that this article is in tomorrow's edition, which means that there's another reason to buy it tomorrow (the first one being Prince's new album being given away with it- should any fans of his out there be interested!)

I was going to buy the Mail tomorrow for the Prince CD, but now definitely worth a read and not just a bin!

Thanks for the heads up. Great interview.

Sue, you are the woman - what would we do without you monitoring the websites?

I have to say though, I have a hard time taking this article seriously. It's full of stupid, basic inaccuracies (aaaarghhh! Not 'Everything's Changing' again! I won't insult everyone's intelligence by pointing out the others) and the bit about Tom allegedly turning and winking at the reporter at the end of the Isle of Wight set (yeah, right) had me reaching for the sick bucket. Someone commented on another thread that a lot of the media in this country is about the personalities doing the interviewing rather than the people being profiled. This is a prize example.

And I have to say: why the Daily Mail? It's the worst kind of middle-England snobbery-and-prejudice rag. I can only assume that whoever set this article up was banking on the free Prince album giveaway attracting a lot more music fans than usual, seeing as it's the week before the 02 gig.

Ah, the good old Daily Mail (aka the Daily Misogynist).
A publishing entitity solely motivated by the unpalatable notion that some woman, somewhere, is having a good time - damn her!.

^^Most read/purchased by women UK tabloid too! Laughing

Well speaking to a third party always has the chance to misinterpret the facts (the Dutch article has errors too ...."returned from rehab to work on the second album") but what do you do - accept that or become some kind of obsessive megastar demanding proof reading and editing of every single article?

I suppose the best option is speak to us direct via KWM, oh no that often prints complete bollo*ks too, doesn't it? Laughing

I suspect, as Sue pointed out, the reason it was Daily Mail rather than others, is because a. the Prince thing, b. the Daily Mail is a very highly regarded 'audience-meter' for Middle England. Their theatre reviews, for example, are considered among the most important of the major newspapers precisely because they are speaking to the people who actually go and see these things, ie. women with a bit of money. (Hence, crap review for Lord Of The Rings = crap audience figures. Although to be fair everyone I know who's seen it says it IS crap...)

Tbh, I get the impression this is all just one last major blitz before they disappear for 18 months, and it's an attempt to reach new audiences. As Tom himself pointed out somewhere, no interview is ever going to be 100% accurate because the interviewer will always have an agenda.

It's all bollocks, really. Wouldn't take any of it too seriously, but it's a good interview.

xxx
